Even if you have medical insurance, you may still be expected to
pay a medical bill abroad in cash and may be reimbursed from your insurance provider.
If you seek care outside of the United Stated, make sure you get an itemized invoice
in English. Understand that Medicare and Medicaid do not pay on claims for service
outside the United States.
It is highly advisable to purchase Travel Insurance if you have
no coverage abroad. Make certain to read your policy carefully. It's better to know
any limitations, deductibles, exceptions or exemptions before you have to use it.
Be sure to note if the policy covers expenses caused by travel delays as well as
cancellation insurance.
